Edit PDF content directly — no round-trip through Word

Most "edit the PDF" requests are actually small interventions: correct a typo on one page, update a date, add a signature line, place a logo, highlight a paragraph for a reviewer. Running the file through PDF-to-Word and back introduces formatting drift and takes five times longer than the change itself. The OkFarsi Edit PDF tool (currently in development) will cover this middle ground — a browser-based editor where you make targeted changes directly inside the PDF without ever leaving it.

The editor focuses on the edits people actually make most often. Text edits: click any text run to correct a typo, update a date, or tweak wording — existing fonts are detected and preserved so the change blends with the surrounding page. Text additions: drop a new text box anywhere on a page, pick a font and size, and type. Image placement: upload a PNG or JPG, position it on the page, and resize. Annotation: highlight, underline, strike, draw arrows, or leave sticky-note comments during review. Shape drawing: rectangles, lines, circles, and freehand for diagrams and redline marks.

Every change is tracked in a revision history during the editing session, so undo and redo work as expected. On download, the tool bakes the changes into the PDF content so they survive subsequent re-saves. For collaborative review, you'll be able to export the annotations as a separate annotation-only layer so reviewers can compare against the clean original.

How the Edit PDF workflow is being designed

  1. Upload the PDF you want to edit

Drop the file into the workspace. The editor renders every page as a navigable canvas where text, images, and annotations can be manipulated in place.

  2. Pick your edit mode

Text mode for correcting or adding text. Image mode for placing logos, photos, or signatures. Draw mode for shapes and freehand. Annotation mode for highlights, underlines, and sticky notes during review.

  3. Make the change directly on the page

Click text to edit it in place — the editor detects the font and size and matches them. Drag new elements anywhere on the page. Resize, rotate, and align with the surrounding content using snap guides.

  4. Track changes through the session

Every edit is recorded in a revision history. Undo, redo, or step back to any earlier state. Export the session as an annotation-only layer if a reviewer needs to see exactly what was changed against the original.

  5. Export the edited PDF

Bake the edits into the page content on download so they persist through later re-saves and are not dependent on any editor-specific annotation format.

Planned use cases

  • Fix a typo without re-exporting

Correct a single word or date directly in the PDF instead of going back to the source document to regenerate the file.

  • Place a logo or signature image

Drop a company logo, a handwritten signature PNG, or a stamp image onto specific pages without a separate image-editing tool.

  • Review and annotate

Highlight, underline, strike through, and leave notes during document review — then export the annotations as a flat PDF for delivery or keep them as editable overlays.

  • Add form instructions or legal notes

Place additional text boxes with instructions, disclaimers, or notes on pages that lacked them in the original export.

Privacy & security

When the editor ships, editing sessions will run on isolated workers inside our infrastructure. Edits will be applied server-side and the output generated locally — no third-party editor or cloud-service integration. Both uploaded PDFs and edited outputs will be removed from our servers shortly after your download completes, following the same retention rules that apply to every existing OkFarsi tool.

Frequently asked questions

When will the Edit PDF tool be available?

The tool is in development as part of the Phase 5 release. We'll announce availability in the tool catalog when the editor is live.

Will I be able to edit text directly in an existing paragraph?

Yes. In-place text editing is a core feature — click a text run to modify it, with the original font and size detected and preserved so the change blends with surrounding content.

Can I add signature images?

Yes. Upload a PNG with transparency of your handwritten signature, position it, and save. For full signature workflows (multiple signers, certificates), pair with the Sign PDF tool when it launches.

Will annotations be editable or flattened into the page?

Both options will be available on export. 'Editable' keeps annotations as separate layers that future tools can modify. 'Flatten' bakes them into the page content so they travel reliably through any downstream save.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

You can annotate, highlight, and draw on a scan, but in-place text editing requires a real text layer. Run OCR first to add the text layer, then open in the editor.

Will the service retain my edited PDF?

No. Same retention rules as every other tool: the source and the edited output are removed shortly after download. Only anonymous job metadata is retained.
